Non repetitive non knowledge based tasks are among the easiest to outsource. It has the widest pool of people that you can outsource to and they are the cheapest tasks to outsource. This does not mean they will be done perfectly by anyone, but in general it’s easy to find someone to do these things at a reasonable price.
There are several non repetitive tasks (those that are not filling out forms, data entry or copy and paste) that can be done without having specific knowledge of something. Although, common sense is always necessary, whether you consider that a skill or not. Not everyone does!
Some of those kinds of tasks include:
Internet research
There are kinds of research that do require (or it helps greatly) to have some knowledge in the particular area of research. For example, academic or scientific research requires a basic understanding of the subject. General searches, though , do not. Things that I look for on a regular basis include price comparisons, reviews for products, doctors that in a particular insurance network and entertainment activities.
Booking travel arrangements
Common sense plays a part in this kind of task, but not necessarily a specific skill set. When you perform this kind of task often, you do start to figure out the best places to start, but as far as specific knowledge, it isn’t necessary.
Filter / Manage email
Often people will have an email inbox that can end up with hundreds (sometimes over a thousand) emails when they are not checked regularly. Maybe you can have your email organized into folders, or have an assistent create a series of standard email replies that can be used for common inquiries.
Scheduling appointments / calendar entries
This isn’t usually a repetitive task, done daily, but a “one-off” type task. You assign your assistant the name and date of an appointment to add to your calendar. Obviously, you need to provide them with access, but generally not an issue for someone you trust.
Writing short summaries of news articles
This is a pretty straight forward kind of task. Reading a news article or blog post, and making a one or two sentence summary.
These are some of the tasks that can get you started outsource. They don’t take a lot of planning or instructions and it can start to free you up to work out plans for the tasks that may require more attention for both you and who you outsource to.
